Biographical details
Dr. Qi Cao is a Senior Research Fellow at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research, Westmead Clinical School, The University of Sydney. He is currently the Leader of the Renal Inflammation and Immunology Group within the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. He has longstanding research interests and extensive expertise in renal disease and immunotherapy, with a particular focus on the role of regulatory macrophages and their therapeutic potential in kidney disease.
Dr Cao received his PhD through the University of Sydney in Professor David Harris’ Renal Failure Laboratory in Westmead Institute for Medical Research. He is currently working on several projects, including the role of innate lymphoid cells in kidney disease and novel therapeutic strategies to target macrophages and DCs with vaccination and inhibitors. His research is highly regarded and well-funded with NHMRC project grants and industry supported projects.
Dr Cao serves as an assessor for NHMRC project grants and several other overseas funding bodies. Heis a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Nephrology, The Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology and International Society of Nephrology.
